Oscar Pistorius to be released from prison in South Africa on October 20

Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison in Pretoria on Tuesday, following a ruling by South Africa's department of correctional services

Oscar Pistorius to be released from jail and moved to house arrest on Oct. 20, it was announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the South African department of correctional services said: "[The board] approved the placement of offender Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision as from 20 October 2015.

"The parole board considered all submissions, including the offender's profile report, the directives of the Parole Review Board and the submission of the victim's family."

Correctional services says Pistorius will remain under correctional supervision until 2019 and be subject to specific conditions.

It is understood Pistorius will have to undergo weekly psychiatric treatment and perform community service.

At first, Pistorius will live under virtual house arrest at his uncle’s home in Pretoria’s upmarket Waterkloof suburb.
He could be eligible to take part in an electronic tagging programme, or will have to check in regularly with a parole officer and at first will be allowed only to leave the house to go to work or to run the occasional errand.

FEAR & WORRY; THERE'S A WAY OUT...

A friend posted on successmnb.com that he needed to understand the difference between FEAR and WORRY. So, I decided to do a research on the distinction between FEAR and WORRY.

Here is what I came up with.

FEAR:

Fear is a set of responses / a respond one gets from a defined threat which can be vividly imagined or real. It is mainly about avoidance and escape. 

In its extreme form, it becomes panic.

Fear could be something tangible or something imagined. 

The intensity depends on the seriousness or unpleasantness of the threat, if any at all.

WORRY:

Worry is the thought process that creates the feelings and emotions experienced as anxiety. Worry can be useful in helping to find solution to problems that cannot be currently be solved. Thinking soon becomes very negative and doom laden and this is what I call imagination misused. This is more associated with the need to be prepared, which leads to been anxious.

Sexuality is an instinct imprinted into the genes of each living creature. Attraction to the opposite sex has been the key factor behind reproduction and survival of each species. Most of the species are born with only seasonal sexual necessities. They mate and reproduce only at limited times a year.

Human beings, on the other hand, have active sexual instincts throughout his/her life; right from the very day he/she discovers his/her sexuality in pre-adulthood. This instinct has found overpowering the cultural advancement we have gained over the past.

Sexuality is only sexuality for all other animals, but human beings have restricted forms of sexuality like pre-marital sexuality and extra-marital sexuality. The main reason behind introducing this restriction is that unlike all other animals we live in a civilized society with strict norms of morality and cultural obligations. The society always long for mature relationships and mutual respect between each member of this society. The main goal behind bringing in the sexual restrictions is that each member of this society should be treated with dignity and not as instruments of fulfilling lust.

What is premarital sexuality?

Though a human being gains the physical maturity of procreation at the beginning of puberty, he/she is considered eligible for mating and reproduction much later may be after 18 years of age or 20. And also the society insists that a sexual practice outside a marriage is improper and illegal at times.

Premarital sexuality is any sexual activity with an opposite sex partner or with a same sex partner before he/she has started a married life. The term is usually used to refer the intercourse before the legal age of a marriage. Adults who presumably marry eventually also fall under this definition.

Why premarital sex is forbidden?

Modern societies don't appreciate premarital lovemaking for various reasons. Lovemaking is no more considered an outflow of the natural sexual instincts among human beings. We see it as a necessary obligation to share the romance between married couples and also as a medium to fulfill the social responsibility of giving birth to the next generation.

Sexuality is not an instrument of enjoying lustful pleasure for human beings, at least. In premarital sex, many a times, immature human beings explore the sexuality, jut out of curiosity, and might be are unaware of the consequences. Society has forbid premarital sex from the very outlook that adolescence is the time to form oneself as mature and responsible human being and not at all a time to procreate.

After effects of premarital sex

Sex in itself, is not wrong at any age; but premarital sex may harm the mental development of adults in several forms. Premarital sexual experiences, many a times, leads to the misconception that sex is to be enjoyed at whatever ways possible. Forced premarital lovemaking will lead to mental depression and dilemma. Another danger is possible exchange of diseases; as premarital partners may not be aware of diseases that spread through intercourses. Getting pregnant through premarital sex is another disaster. Emotional imbalances and guilt feeling could be the result of most premarital sexual affairs.

How to prevent premarital sex

Premarital sex is not approved by any modern society, yet, stories of adolescent fathers and mothers come out largely, especially from the highly civilized European nations. Modern lifestyle has opened multiple opportunities for boys and girls to interact closely and deeply in public and private. They have ample chances to experiment the sexuality which they witness through INTERNET and Televisions.

Law can only threaten people, can never make them to not do something. The most effective way of defending premarital lovemaking is spreading awareness of healthy sexuality among children. Awareness of healthy sexuality is not at all the knowledge of safe sexuality. Train them to mingle with opposite sex in a mature way. Inspire them with mutual respect between man and woman. From the very childhood itself a baby should learn to accept people as men and women, the equal partners of life on earth; not as objects to fulfill lusty wishes and ambitions.

BRIEF HISTORY:

The National Museum, Lagos which was established in 1956 is an outlet for collecting, preserving and presenting cultural History/Heritage in Nigeria. It was founded in 1950s, after a period of pre-colonial that saw the country hemorrhaging traditional Heritage through Art Work taken from Nigeria and sold abroad including some Sotheby’s to showcase at the new museum.

 The new museum today is a relatively vibrant branch of the national commission of museums and monuments. In 2002, construction of a shopping complex called ‘galleria’ and located close to the museum began, it is the intention of the city of Lagos to view the mall later called Onikan City Mall as a way to rejuvenate the Onikan environ.

The museum has various collection of pots, bronze and terracotta statutes from Benin, Igbo Ukwu, and the central regions of Nigeria and from Ife, the major centers of classical Nigerian Art. It also has a large collection of ‘Ere Ibeji’. Because of the great diversity of people and culture, Nigeria has distinguished herself over the centuries in the field of arts. Nigerian versatility in art is so great that it is generally felt that all African nations should view Nigeria as the principal trustee of the most durable fruits of black artistic genius. It is not precisely known when the first works of Nigerian art reached the outside world, but in 1897, following a British punitive expedition to Benin, over 2,000 Benin bronzes and ivories were shipped to England and later dispersed all over Europe and America.

The oldest sculpture found in Nigeria were from the southern Zaria and Benue areas of Central Nigeria. They consist of terracotta figures and figurines made by people who achieved a high degree of cultural elements, have been named the Nok Culture. Evidence shows the NOK people had knowledge of iron smelting and adorned themselves with tin and stone beads, earrings, nose rings and bracelets. The next known phase of Nigerian cultural evolution was Igbo Ukwu, near Awka, the casts date from the 9^TH century A.D. they first came to light in 1938 and consist of staff heads, crowns, breastplates, pendants, ornaments, anklets, wristlets and chains. About the same time the Igbo-Ukwu people were casting bronze, the ancient Ife people were also producing works in bronze, copper and terracotta. In the first quarter of this century, Ife works caused a great stir among world art critics and historians who were unaccustomed to such naturalism in African art. The best known Nigerian art works are the Benin people learned the art of bronze casting from Ile-Ife around 1400 A.D. Oba Ogunta, the sixth king of Benin, is credited with having encouraged this art in Benin. Nigeria’s cultural heritage is woven from threads of history and diversity, legend and conquest. Tourist visiting the country will gain insights to a glorious past as well as a promising future, set amid the natural beauty of this diverse country.
