Why Jonathan is yet to sign 2014 Budget

The Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, on Wednesday attributed the delay in signing the 2014 Budget by President Goodluck Jonathan to some distortions made by the two chambers of the National Assembly on the Appropriation Bill sent to them.
He said the distortions were made in areas which he described as very serious, hence the need for the Executive to look into them to avoid their possible negative impacts on the implementation of the budget.
Maku gave the explanation while answering State House correspondents’ questions at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Flouting “no smoking” rules in Lagos

WRITTEN BY: JENNIFER OBHAKHOBOH

It is true what they say that smokers are liable to die young. These words means a lot to very few people. Smoking according to research has proven to be harmful to every organ of the body, it causes many diseases and reduces the health of smokers in general.

It causes about 90% of all lung cancer deaths in men and women. More women die of lung cancer than of breast cancer each year. Smokers are at greater risk for diseases that affects the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease). In order to reduce the rate at which people’s lives who are nonsmokers but are affected by a smoker around them and because of this nonchalant attitude, lives of these ones are been cut short. To help the nonsmokers stay away from the hazards attached to smoking, the Lagos state Governor has signed the bill passed by the House of Assembly into law.

TALKING TO SOMEONE ABOUT RAPE

WRITTEN BY: JENNIFER OBHAKHOBOH

I can’t talk to nobody, I feel like nobody understands, so I pick up some paper and grabbed a pen. You see me smile, but if you only knew the things that I hold onto and just can’t seem to let go. I know I must forgive and I said that I do, but I don’t really think that I actually do. Who do I need
to forgive, my mother, my uncle, my uncle, my aunt’s boyfriend, perhaps my boyfriend?

I went through a lot of pain like that of an acid poured on its victim. I spoke up no one listened! So it continued on and on with no one to listened to my cry, no one to share my agony with not even my mother who wouldn’t take note of my body change. Is writing the best way to let go of the pain?

Of all crimes committed against human or a person, is the one that leaves a person feeling the most violated. A rape victim is often left with the feeling that a part of them has been torn apart. Because the feeling is still with them, the victim may have a sense that the crime is continuously occurring. To use another person’s body and ignore the soul that resides within is the most egregious crime that one person can commits against another.

First lady Michelle Obama says she is “outraged” and “heartbroken” over the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian school girls who risked their lives to get an education, saying she hopes their story serves as an inspiration for American students to work harder and appreciate what they have got.
“In these girls, Barack and I see our own daughters. We see their hopes, their dreams – and we can only imagine the anguish their parents are feeling right now,” Mrs. Obama says in her first-ever weekly address. “Many of them may have been hesitant to send their daughters off to school, fearing that harm might come their way.  But they took that risk because they believed in their daughters’ promise and wanted to give them every opportunity to succeed.”

Nigeria In Red!

BOKO HARAM BATHS NIGERIA IN RED
With a pensive grieve and burdened heart, with the evidence of poor Governance and apparently the continuous reign of our Mislead leaders.

Prior to the Kidnapping of the school students in Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok Nigeria that ensued on the 14th of April 2014, there has been different occurrences that have shown sloppiness in our response to National issues in our Country. I mean, if this regime is so good, why do we still have the popular terrorist sect around using the excuse of religion to harm others, to be unkind, unjust and oppressive.

After So many conjectures about the kidnapping of the 235 girls, the media seems to be having a good time publishing different stories with a popular Hash Tag that seems to be strolling every corner of social media (#BRING BACK OUR GIRLS) and have been somewhat irrelevant in the pursuit of justice and retrieve of the missing Secondary school girls. If the media is so effective, why are the names and pictures of the students still hidden? All these, proofs just one thing, and that’s the over sagging evidence that we have failed as a nation and as citizens individually.
It is true our leaders have failed us. So, we cannot continue to trust their capability or ability in leadership, but one thing still stands "I believe in Nigeria"Do you believe?
